i like this element. Would be nice to see your view on aquaculture.
NB: maybe we/team/somebody need to show what part of corkbulb is eatable? Add some fruits or smaller bulbs?
That would be nonsense if plant of this size would be collected as a whole/
Oh yes. We totally need saltrice fields like that. This is perfect! And I'd love some more close - ups of those fields, with slaves working them ;)
You're also really fast! I love those concepts, they capture the feeling of the region really well. Can't wait for more!
Side note: I'd really like to put a clear distinction between poor farmers and plantators. Farmers would be Dunmer who work their fields themselves, live either in shacks or modest clay huts.
Rich plantators would have proper Hlaalu buildings, bigger fields, and slaves working their fields, like in your second concept.
And then we would also have netchimen on rich netch plantations, tending to those animals and working with thier leather.
While landscaping i already added a few aquafarms near poorer farms, tonight if i stream u'll see em! Writing from mobile so no pics at hand but please keep tue concepts coming so i can have a few new models to work with and also some vision of the place!

Also-Morrowind is very racist. Khajiits and Argonians make up (based off my memory) at least 75% of slaves, if not way more
> at least 75% of slaves > plantations
= would be nice to have them different to CASH_CROP + PLANTATION and FOOD_CROP + FARM classes
= also plantations should be obviously much more rare
= Cash_crop .include : drug, medicinal, decorative plants
= Food_crop . include : 3-5 species of most eatable plants: saltrice monoculture mostly.
To make a bit different shape of terrain I propose to aspirate with landscape of Verdun. And make it bigger 10x times with much more gender slopes. Sth different than lines of hills like in grazelands
Ascadian Isles is small region so this feature could make a bit expression of that it is a bit bigger than it is in reality. Hills are overlapping themselves so you never see too far. (remember MW, everyone thought that this is massive island because of short view)
This region is very sandy, so it could have formation similar like above loess-type. It is region rich of plantation and slaves so gorges similar like that will be cool places for hideout for outlaws. I've done some really fast sketches for them. Maybe Roman will make them more depicted if he want to.
cliff ascending above some poor fisher shack. It could be more extravagate in that way that it will be closing this shack from 3 sides (more stealthy)
or some cavern with crack above would be good for escaping slaves. This idea could save a lot of space (additional interior). Of course above crack could be trees and imperial parasols to add better effect. Remember if u want to add more content on this same area, you should add some additional space. In other way with great vision distance it will be looking too polluted with shacks.
I'd be okay with such silt/sand/clay cliffs in places where water would've washed them out like that, but I wouldn't go overboard. We have a ton of cliffy and rocky areas, Ascadian Isles should remain mostly green, lush rolling hills with water pools inbetween them.
It would actually make sense with lore too, since whole Vivec and all those Hlaalu buildings are made of clay. So yeah, silt and clay deposits near rivers in forms of these cliffs is a good idea. Hell, we could drop some shovels and buckets around there to indicate that those were worked.
Now that I think of it... We could add some artificial lakes. Dunmer would find a clay deposit, dig it up, and after a while it would fill up with water from ground/rain. Some muddy holes with things that indicate lying around excavation would be great. I remember IceFlame mentioning that he was working on a brick manufacture for Balmora near Odai - those would probably be even more common and prominent in Ascadian Isles, since the whole archipelago is basically clay and silt.
would be good to have several clay pits with really working (mining) potters/brick-makers.
actually there are many assets and ideas that would be nice to use in several places.
shame to use awesome sulfuric assets of Caldera in only one place when so much volcanic regions really simple.

The concept art for Gnisis had a quarry, either for stone or clay, I'm going to be posting some progress of Gnisis soon and I'll make sure to include it:
It would be nice to see some Hlaalu clay quarries as well in the Ascadian Isles
Oh, so it's a quarry? I always thought it was an arena, where we could have gladiator fights where one of the participants would be pushed off the cliff to their doom. I don't think it would make much sense to make a quarry like that, very dangerous to work and pretty pointless when you have another cliff to work from the bottom a few paces away. But maybe I don't have a version of this image HD enough to see all the details, but I thought it was an interesting idea for an ampitheatre.
I was initially thinking some kind of amphitheatre, but I thought it would make more sense as a quarry, seeing as its by the river and has all those posts in it, if it was a stone quarry it would be out of the base part, but as a clay quarry, being by the river works. That cliff is actually a very short drop as well, and is right alongside the river.
As for a sort of equivalent, I was thinking this could be restored:
What I believe to be a Dunmeri minaret for leading temple prayers, it didn't make it into the final build for whatever reason.

This idea I like more than quarry. It is good example where mod community could do great work with gladiator fights. Like in Vivec or Rotheran. Just imagine that u can add gladiator guild/quests with regional arenas.
Remake of Marshmerrow? Where have you been before? I admit, if I had to do it today I would do it quite differently. Still, already existing one is very close to the concept above.
It can’t be much different from what it is. Maybe more lush, more dense and better animation. Since we talking here about having large plantations so much to do it as auto-generated grass.
I was there. I think i even had this talk with you bfor.
Can you make rectangular leafs as on my pic?
I think this can help with your randomized animation/trembling_movements of this plants (looks like Kresh also have this feature).
Hmm, I don't think clay is mined that way really :P That hole would collapse really quickly, clay doesn't act like rock. A clay quarry would more likely be just a wide hole like this:
Yep. Anyway most mining animations use (in Hearthfire) same 'ore-veins' of clay as all other.
So just wide pit, maybe with some shallow water would be more practical in this case.
Actually it could be just a ravine with 'veins' on walls and bw floor and walls.
Can I get 5 cliff models with that outer terrain texture? I don't need em all different 100%. I was thinking about 2 models with 2 variations on the outer edge for each one. Any modeller available?
thedarkprince, we have models for everything now. its a case of scanning through the assets, finding something you need and applying the appropriate textures. you can do the texture vartions in the creation kit. no modelers needed.
60% of landscaping Skywind, is figuring out all the assets we have!
the only new models i thought wed need are the hard edges water borders, like volanic pools, in the image 3posts up, and the tall soil cliff faces, which are the same as my west gash ones, with a different texture.
both are easy to do. But still doing west gash atm. Unless u want me to divert for a day or 2.
Yep, that's pretty awesome. How about a picture of the flooded saltrice fields, with Vivec City in the far background? That's an image I'd definetly still like to see ;)
I think this looks awesome! :) Already like it on Facebook...
Veloth,
Yea, a velothi tower would be interesting, but why should there specifically be a velothi tower in this specific location. Is there a reason that it is worth the extra work for this team? If you're going to make a point, at least make sure that it is a GOOD point. Also, remember that this is concept art not in-game material and always give respect to the artists who are actually creating all this. Just chill out. It's going to be awesome! :)
I have a little idea I'd love to see though, could you put this character somewhere? A netchiman or two, looking like this or similar (could also wear the basic netch armour, not boiled - just without the goggles), would look awesome leaning against one of those posts, smoking a pipe and overlooking the Netch, having the netch hook somewhere near if it was necessary to pierce the air sack and bring one down ;) I really love the feeding baskets too.
If you added these characters, or one, it would tie the whole concept of netchimen together, and where netch armour comes from.
beautiful, just beautiful :) and good idea with damaged and abandoned shacks, we must have some of those in a couple of places :)

Way more ;) Slaves of other races are very rare in general, and especially when used for physical labour.

Can I get a few concept arts for a new envisionment of the Dren plantations? Thank you very much Dubina. You are amazing as always!
Thanks to everyone for good words. Lukkar, your advice very helpful.
Btw. what I noticed for loess type cliff can be just changed Rav Utah rock
structure is almost the same. The only thing could be changed is hue and a lower texture contrast.
I'd be okay with such silt/sand/clay cliffs in places where water would've washed them out like that, but I wouldn't go overboard. We have a ton of cliffy and rocky areas, Ascadian Isles should remain mostly green, lush rolling hills with water pools inbetween them.

I agree, I see it not higher than 2-8 meters. Nothing outstanding, only in some places where water can sculpt it.
Btw. it is friendly in geological terms because terrain shape of ascadian isles seems to be postglacial
Now that I think of it... We could add some artificial lakes. Dunmer would find a clay deposit, dig it up, and after a while it would fill up with water from ground/rain. I began work on a new concepts and I have a few ideas about marshmerrow.
This is how I see it:
And I made a little concept about clay mine:

I did not know about a model of marshmerrow. I just thought would be better if marshmerrow was high as man.
About a "bucket-on-sticks"... It was not a sticks - it was a rope. I think a small clay mine must be something like this:
But it's just one of my ideas.
Hmm, I don't think clay is mined that way really :P That hole would collapse really quickly, clay doesn't act like rock. A clay quarry would more likely be just a wide hole like this:

P.S. Happy New Year!

Those are really nice, a lot of these concepts make for some good paintings ingame as well, perhaps on the walls of a Hlaalu manor.
The Shrine at the Fields of Kummu:
Loving that! Especially that little roof :D
Im with Dragomir, love the little gazebo to make the shrine stand out and feel more important/apreciated.
You know what would be fun? If the gazebo was triangular. The shrine has three sides anyway.
hmmm, why not give the shrine a more velothi make-over, it looks a bit too much like viet nam right now
Dragomir wrote:
Yeah that could work, IF you make it follow the shrines pattern it can look pretty good.
pointy tip at the back and the flat side up front facing the road/trail.
LOVEEEE IT!
Mind if I share it on the social media?
OK
Nice works you got there Dubina, these will feed the hungry audience a little.
I love how lush you make everything feel, Gives it a sense of wonder. Good job!

I love that concept! Really athmospheric.
