An oblivion to skyrim nif converter is also needed, hope it doesnt take too long for one to appear.

I'm hoping for some updated nifscripts for blender.
Right now I'm learning to use blender 2.6, but only 2.49 can import and export models, and only oblivion nifs. So I'm having to learn two seperate UIs and I can't fiddle with skyrim stuff yet...

the blender script definatly needs to be updated since the only way to get skyrim files to blender is to port it as an obj...which strips any skinning done

You folks should be a little patient.  Both the Blender team and the NifSkope people are working on new versions that will support skyrim.  Just need to wait till they are finished.

Hi

It is not a great idea to merge oblivion and morrowind on skyrim. the complet leveling system from skyrim is scrap. please build skyrim on oblivion like morrowind. oblivion has a perfect balace of complexity and handling. In skyrim is no attributes, no magic building systems, no correct respawn in the most dungeons... its boring :(

The Syrim have a little bit better grafic and animation, but the attribute system is lost, the magic spell creation is lost, the Doomstone and starsign system is merged, the complet magical system is not more as a rouine.  I name it Cipplescrolls or Elderfall Skyout. :) Better make Skyrim on Oblivion. It is not better because it is newer, sadly.

i am no modder, but i love mods though.  i will like to see oblivion in skyrim engine like you do with morroblivion.

Naturally the Skyrim technic is the newest. But to merge the games together, we need to import the attributes, magical starsign, doomstones and many other ruleworks of oblivion. without it, the merge will downgrade oblivion and morrowind to the boring rulework of skyrim. This is not good. After playing Skyrim 50h i back to Oblivion/Morroblivion, this is definitly the better game. skyrim cant rich oblivion the water. But when it is possible to import the ruleworks of oblivion, then it will be the absolutly best idea. Why Bethesda not give what the customer like, a complet Tamriel and invent always the Egg at new to make it simplyfi and boring, will know only Sheogorath. In Oblivion they sounds: They are 18 Dedric Spheres... where? They have give us only the shivering Isles. :(

So I thanx to the Morroblivion Team, because they give us the the Best Elderscrolls ever: Morroblivion!

I gotta disagree with you Zonerider. I think Skyrim is MUCH better than Oblivion, and more in line with Morrowind, which is why I would love to see Morrowind ported to the Skyrim engine.

If you want to talk about "dumbing down," you can't pick on Skyrim, because -- technically -- the Elder Scrolls games have been dumbing down since Daggerfall. It's just the way it goes. I think where you're getting at is "Where is the balance between customization and simplicity/intuition?" I think Skyrim did an ok job at that, but that's coming from the eyes of someone who always plays a combat character. I hate magick, haha :D

I'm totes with Robert on this one.

Although I've enchanted armor sets so I can cast each magic school for free, so I've enjoyed dabbling in magic. And of Course Midas makes it fun.

I was afriad of the loss of attributes etc, but I really think they did do a good job.

I do miss spellmaking though, as flames/sparks/frostbite seem somewhat useless at my level, but I think overall its for the better.

In terms of game mechanics, I'd say the only thing I miss in Skyrim is spellmaking.  I feel like Bethesda really did listen to the players on this one.  Think about it:

  • Daggerfall fans: return of "infinite" content, i.e. randomly generated quests
  • Morrowind fans: return of Morrowind art direction (compare the color schemes and designs of many of the clothes and armor, for instance) & enchantment skill
  • Oblivion fans: Real-time non-diceroll combat

I also don't buy into Skyrim being "dumbed down" compared to Oblivion.  While the perk system has its share of problems, I think it's much more nuanced than the attribute system.  I think a better term is "less spreadsheet-y."

I absolutely agree. I think Bethesda didn't dumb-down but moreso simplified/steamlined how skills and attributes work. I'll be honest, the skill system in Morrowind confused the hell out of me.

What ever you do, i am intrerestet. Tamriel must be reunion. ^^

Another thing waths boring me is the respawn system. In skyrim only respawn the smal dungeons. But not one Dwemer Rouine or the bigger, greatfuller dungeons. But i think is will be possible to fix this with the creation-kit like in Fallout. In Follout i have played a lang time with a respawn mod for the interiors, naturly in the german version the dungeons was not filled with boddyparts and gore. I have no idea wats happend when the respawn is forced, maybe the dungeons fills to the top with gore. O.o

Weapons in Skyrim can not be damaged. The blacksmith perks in Skyrim are used to create your own armor and weapons, upgrade, but then you can only use the perks to build more armors and weapons to make money. And the money you can use to... buy arrows, becouse you can not forge them. Maybe it will possible to make a mod that the weapons and armor go down from epic to normal by using and can be resharp with blacksmith and Ores or the perks and ores lost his sense after creating your stuff.

The Vampirism in Skyrim has primary mali, the only boni are nearly useless spells and the unarmed damage and sneaking will grow minimaly. Without agility, acrobatics, carisma and the other atributes is it hard to make the vampirism fine...

:P But I think the most problems can be fixed to merge all tree games.

I bet this will be fixed with a mod pretty quickly.

I actually don't mind this too much, but there are already mods that let you craft more objects, including staves and arrows.  As for damaged equipment...I could think of a few ways to bring this back to Skyrim, so I'm sure somebody's on it.

Agreed.  That said, vampirism in Oblivion wasn't that great, either. :P  I'm expecting lots and lots of vampirism mods in the near future.

[ADDENDUM]

Wait, why are we having this discussion in the Morrobliviskyrim thread?  Yikes, we keep cluttering this place up with off-topic posts. ^^;

Ya, I'm with Zonerider on respawns and vampires. Werewolfs (werewolves?) are cool though!

I do think its funny that after such an expansion of smithing, from a skill that only did one thing in menues to such a huge part of crafting, that you don't even repair weapons anymore. But, like other realism mods, I enjoy the lack of inconvinience that repairing a weapon lead too.

I do hope someone comes up with better respawn mods. :/

Don't forget that Morrowind had the worst ever vampirism. You couldn't talk to anyone except the Mages guild or house telvanni! Thankfully the vampire embraced mod with all its addons fixed that...

You guys don't know how stoked I am. To me, the Skyrim engine just seems like it's begging to have Morrowind ported over to it.

And before anyone jumps all over my statement, yes, I know it will be hard as hell to port Morroblivion over to Skyrim's engine, but I don't care. I will take up texturing and mesh creation if I have to help get it ported.

I didn't know jack about modding before, and I made a mod. So if I have to take up something new to help port Morroblivion to Skyrim, I'm all game.

Here's my 2 cents worth... although it seems a little late now.

Skyrim:

Graphics/Animations: 10+ really, they are truly excellent!!!

Game Mechanics: 6 there's good and bad.  I'm a creature of habit so I am biased towards Oblivions system

Platform: 1  I don't know how others have dealt with STEAM, but it caused holy heck with my computer/anti-virus/firewall.  Granted my laptop is a bit old and just barely meets the requirements, and truth be told I could deal with that.  For some reason STEAM insisted on constantly running accessing the WEB as soon as I fired up my laptop.  It got so bad I finally Uninstalled Skyrim, but unfortunately there were still problems so a full restore was called for.  Bethesda has my money so I guess that's the end of their concern.

I guess what this whine/rant is all about is, I rather see a version of Skyrim ported to Morroblivion, than Morroblivion to Skyrim.  Presonally, I feel it would be better add the new Skyrim perks to the old system than getting rid of so much of the old system to conform to Skyrim...  guess I'm babbling, but maybe someone will understand.

Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents worth.  Also-THANKS A BILLION for this mod!!!

"Why do you put your 2 cents worth in, but it's only a penny for your thoughts?"

When Skyrim first came out, I tried to make an excel to compare them. This is as far as I got:

Type

Title

Better

Points: (-10 = Oblivion, 10 = Skyrim

Rational

Graphics

General

Distance / LOD

Skyrim

10

Inviornment / Diversity

Skyrim

Dungeons

Skyrim

Infinitly better in Skyrim. Prettier, better laid out, more 'realistic'.

NPC Models

General

Sheogorath

Oblivion

-5

While I enjoyed the Skyrim Sheogorath event more than its oblivion counterpart, the Skyrim Sheogorath's facial features and animations severely disapointed me. In Oblivion / the Shivering Isles, Sheogorath had a  unique face, a walking cane, and his own animations. At the least I expected this amount of wildness from the Sheogorath of Skyrim. Instead of a sharp beard and cat like eyes, in Skyrim he had a tame shadow of a beard and paled eyes. He didn't hold fear and felt more like a boy than madness personified. His cane missing added to his blandess.  The final nail in the coffen was his lack of unique animations. The Sheogorath, infamous for his fear of boredum, did nothing more than sit during his scene. I feel that Sheogorath of Skyrim was a step backwards.

Race Diversity

Skyrim

3

Races in Skyrim are easier to tell apart and seem to have more diversity, unfortunatly a lot of the races look ugly (though the beast races look great).

Face Beauty/ Realism

Skyrim

5

Non elven faces look superb. Unfortunately the score is dropped down by how narrow and ugly the elves look. Eyes look great.

Chargen

Armor Clipping

Immersion

General

Fire

Oblivion

-2

While fires look a little to a lot better in Skyrim (graphics), their immersion is reduced. In oblivion standing in a fire gives you fire damage; logical. In Skyrim no such thing happens.

Dragon Bones

Oblivion

-2

After a dragon dies in Skyrim his bones lack collision. This seems to me to be a huge bug.

Grabbing

Oblivion

-1

While Skyrim's grabbing system is more powerful and it's nice to move bodies so much the easier, it seems constrained to movement without rotation. This seems to me not worth the trade off. I wish you could have both strength and rotation… Oblivion wins by a hair...

Technical

General

Menus

Skyrim menus are cleaner and feel quicker, but have less power, such as sorting by weight and value. Skyrim allows you to rotate objects and shows you what weopons and armor are best, but you can't sort by value or see your character. I can't really decide which I perfer.

I like your question Locke. I have no idea why you give your two cents for a peny. That's pretty witty. :D

lol Quick question. Are you planning to do a complete remake of Morrowind and Cyrodiil like the original Morroblivion project, or are you planning on doing the extra work to make Morrowind and Cyrodiil as they would be at the time Skyrim takes place?

We'd remake the old games as close as possible to their originals i think

Awesome thanks for answering my noob question and not getting pissed at the fact I would even ask that question in the first place ie. most of the internet population. Definitely a friendly community on Morroblivion :).

Should we make a new forum subsection for Morroskyrim? thermador, I don't know if you're the webmaster, but if you are, I think it'd be a good idea.

Yes, I think we are overdue for dividing up this thread and creating a subforum.

Edit: Hmm looks like they are looking for more people... :)

Anyone seen the movie "Taken" with Liam Neeson?

My words to this guy are "Good Luck"

Haha, what does "Taken" have to do with it?
Is this guy planning on rebuilding the whole thing himself? Or is he going to use ported objects (and get banned?)

Doesn't seem like he's planning on adding the original Morrowind quests either.

Does anybody think about creating TES V: Morrowind - 4th era instead of MorrOblSky?

I had an idea to play morroblivion due to The Grand Wave of nostalgic feelings, but i don't think, that this wave will be returned by MOS.

I just know, that Tamriel Rebuilt project is still alive and continental part of morrowind is almost completed.

At the same time,   TES V: Morrowind - 4th era must be  absolutely legal.

(... or almost  absolutely... ;)

Is the entire focus now on Morrobliviskyrim? Or is work still being done on the original Morroblivion?
