We are working on three global modes, two of which carry the same world on two completely different engine. One of them - Skywind and I often noticed that many people want to translate it into their native languages and do not know where to start.
We are extremely uninterested in translation only Skywind . We have two projects which based on Morrowind. A separate translation them makes no sense, since it is double work. In our case, the best option - it is a translation of Morroblivion , and then convert the plug to Skywind . Moreover, this method will not engage in unnecessary translation Skywind, as Morroblivion and Skywind almost have identical lines .
So if you want to help themselves and to us , I recommend start translating Morroblivion ;) And after that we help u to convert ur plug to Skywind.
What do u need to start?
If u have Morrowind in ur language than u need to have Morrowind+Morrowind TES Construction Set and Oblivion+Morroblivion+Oblivion TES Construction Set.

Mh... i'm a native italian, i could help with the translation for my language, i just have to know what i have to do to start the translation, can you pass me a link of a thread that could help me? :)
--EDIT--
I haven't specified: for what i know (but i'm fairly sure of that), Morrowind has never been translated in italian. There are surely some mods online, but i think it would be better to start a translation from 0 (it would be also an opportunity for me, since i'm still studying english), and to do so i need to understand how to see all the texts from the videogame.
All text from morroblivion u can see in Oblivion TES Construction Set, and from Morrowind in Morrowind TES Construction Set. These utilites created for editing esp, esm files. What u want to translate? Morrowind or Morroblivion? Or both?
Won't you be using string files?
string files? What do u mean? u mean dictionary?
I mean String Tables, a translation method used by Skyrim engine.
Oh, we can use it for retranslate Skywind, if we have translate for Skywind. but we need create translate for Skywind firstly:)
I don't know where that thread came from but yes, we are using the strings file method for Skywind translation. - I don't know about Oblivion translation.
What can be useful since it's not possible for us to propose a master ready for translation (i.e. we still a number of english strings to create), it to start with creating your own dictionary (based on the current Skywind content or even morrowind itself). The idea of the dictionary is that you can start translating names/dialogues/etc in a separate base and then when we give you the string files you can translate (almost) automatically based on your knowledge base.
if any Skywind-oriented effort could be re-used for Morroblivion, I have no idea, since I don't know how it worked in Oblivion.
It doesn't support anything like string tables, so only translations possible would be as esp files (and this method sucks).
I was just surprised, because first post gave me an impression that you were going to use esps too.
digitalparanoid, it is impossible to normal work with this files:) We will use esp for translate work, and after that, i think, create this string files for skywind.
I beg to differ Iniquity. If by esp, you mean a plugin where the strings is directly translated like
Skywind.esm "Hello"
french.esp "bonjour"
spanish.esp "ola"
etc...
This is just impossible. Any update to the master (condition, actor emotion, etc...), would have to be repeated in every language ! Just not possible, nothing will ever be up to date.
Why do you say it's impossible to work with the string files? I posted some links to tools in another thread...
Im not about it :) Im about 'translate working' for separates files. much easier to reenter the new string file from esp (if we found some bad strokes), than edit string file.
?
Couldn't we use the translation of the game itself ? I think we would have to most translations done, if we use the translation files of Oblivion/Morrowind ... ?
U could :)
Hi
For information, I have made and completed a translation of Skywind v9 in french using ESP/ESM Translation (a program I wrote).
I know the text will be changed and there is certainly a lot of error in my translation, but the base is ready.
You can't use directly the text of morrowind, for several reasons :
- Book format is not the same
- Dialogue have been cut into several parts because of the macimum lenght of a field
- Dialogue in Morrowind used a lot of %name, %class, %race, %faction....
You will have a lot of copy/paste to do to translate. But it's possible...
Hi, if u can create morroblivion translation it will be better, because we can save it for new versions of skywind ;)
You can Use EGG to Translate to any Language

hm, thx, ill see on it
The only thing that will com in handy is knowing the Language you are Translating to ,So if the Translation is Incorrect you can Correct Translation as you Go ,also books for Morrowind have Been Converted to Morroblivion so it will not Take Long to Translate to Other Language.
I Used it to Convert German to English in 2011 on Orden der Drachen took 3 months to Learn the Program and do the Convertion..Have Done 1 Half of 7 Roads will Get Back to it 1 Day.
Of course ur right :)
